sri sri ravi shankarAnyone who wishes to enter into the deep self knowledge, and has a strong need for spiritual development, a guide, self realized teacher would be of great help. The one who passed the whole path, experienced all the experiences that are waiting for us, one who is full of love, who is love himself.

One of these self realized people is Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, one of the biggest benefactors of today, 5 years in a row nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. As a 4 years old, parents were finding him in deep meditation and already then he was recitating Bhagavat Gita, that he never heard anywhere before. As a 10 year old he told his parents that there are people all over the world who are waiting for him and that he will visit them one day.

Every contact with Sri Sri is deep experience of transformation. In year 1982, after 10 days of silence, he brought powerful breathing technique to the world, Sudarshan Kriya, which frees a man of negative emotions and stresses accumulated during the life and connects him with his true nature. Shortly thereafter, he is establishing an Art of Living foundation that 25 years later became the largest charity organizations in the world. Each workshop, which was designed, and there are indeed many, bring new realms of peace and fulfillment for which we did not even know that exists. Sri Sri yearly travels to around forty countries where holding workshops and lectures. He says that his mission is stress free and violence free world.

There are three fundamental pillars of the Art of Living, Seva, Satsang and Sadhana, in this order.

What is a Seva? Seva is selfless service, charitable work; seva means to do good things to somebody, and not expect something in return. Seva purifies the heart, creates the feeling that we are fulfilling the purpose of our life. Satsang? Satsang literally means to socialize in knowledge. On Satsangs, yogic practices are performed in the group, where practicants are singing the songs that treate and rise awareness. Sadhana is a daily yogic practice, which relieved stress and makes us better human beings. Sri Sri says that the culmination of the service is to help somebody to discover his true nature, which already contains all what you're looking outside yourself.

Sudarshan Kriya is a fundamental practice of breathing that perfectly purifies a person at all levels. In addition, Sri Sri gave a meditation practice that is performed daily. It is said that the culmination of Yoga is meditation and that all practices prior meditation serves to purify the physical, emotional and mental body. He devised advanced courses in which there are guided meditations, long, extremely cleansing and helping to dip deep into themselves and experience the palpable silence within themselves.

Sri Sri, by his own example shows our full potential. Compassion, love, responsibility, sense of belongingness and inexhaustible energy, Sri Sri spreads around him wherever he appears. Millions of people in the world have been inspired by his words and find the required deep joy in their lives. He says that a good indicator of the spiritual growth is a smile that nobody can put off from your face. More about him on www.srisriravishankar.org
